Instruments such as the Fluke 41B and the Fluke 87 provide
true RMS voltage and current information, as well as a complete harmonic
analysis of the circuit under test. For longer-term monitoring, APC's
PQEs use both BMI and Dranetz monitors, monitoring both the single and
three phase environment. These monitors capture the electrical
environment graphically, and provide a historical capability to the
analysis. Branch circuits require special instrumentation, such as the
APC SureTest, to provide a proper analysis. Information such as voltage
harmonic distortion at the outlet, or resistance in each of the
conductors is critical to completing a comprehensive survey.
